Ireland will be without defender Richard Keogh, midfielder James McCarthy and forward Sean Maguire for their World Cup playoff against Denmark which kicks off with the first leg on Saturday.
\nKeogh has a groin problem while McCarthy and Maguire are suffering with hamstring strains, the Football Association of Ireland said on its website (www.fai.ie) on Monday.
\nThe trio were in a provisional 34-man squad named by Martin O\u2019Neill last month for the two legs starting at Copenhagen\u2019s Parken Stadium before the return in Dublin three days later.
\nKeogh came off early in Derby County\u2019s defeat by Reading in the Championship on Saturday, with Everton\u2019s McCarthy sidelined since making his only club appearance this season on Oct. 25.
\nHowever. O\u2019Neill is hoping Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick will be fit for the first leg after he suffered a glute injury against Southampton in their Premier League game on Saturday.
\n\u201cJeff came off after about 60 odd minutes, he was having a bit of a problem and he\u2019s still a little bit sore at the moment,\u201d O\u2019Neill told a news conference.
\n\u201cHe\u2019s said he\u2019s improving so that\u2019s good news. If the game was tomorrow morning he might struggle but he\u2019s pretty hopeful and the medical team are hopeful.\u201d
\nO\u2019Neill cut David McGoldrick, Jonny Hayes, Daryl Horgan and Alan Browne from a squad now numbering 27 including David Meyler who will be available for the second leg after suspension.
\nThere was no call up for Burnley striker Jonathan Walters, who was left out of the original squad after missing the final two games of the campaign and still has a knee problem.
