Mohan Mallappa & Babu – first riders in India to complete the landmark 100,000 kms on BMW Adventure motorcycle

BENGALURU 15-8-21:- Two Bengaluru-based adventure motorcycle enthusiasts have emerged as the first riders in India to have completed 100,000 kilometres on the iconic BMW 1200 GS series bikes. While Mohan Mallappa reached the landmark in three years, Babu took two more years. Interestingly, both are members of RRMC (Riders Republic Motorcycle Club), the largest socially responsible motorcycle club in the country.

On August 15th, both the riders were felicitated at Torque 03 Ezone in Marathahalli by RRMC in recognition of their achievements. Mohan and Babu have completed many challenges set by the US-based endurance motorcycling organization, the Iron Butt Association (IBA). In addition to promoting the spirit of motorcycle riding and biking brotherhood, Mohan and Babu have undertaken motorcycling expeditions to support many initiatives in the field of rural education, youth empowerment, employment and raising charity for underprivileged sections of society.

In 2020, when RRMC partnered with the Bengaluru police to deliver critical care medicine to remote corners of Karnataka during the Covid-19 nationwide lockdown, Mohan and Babu were at the forefront, having delivered medicine to the Kerala border and other parts of Karnataka where life-saving drugs were not available.

Speaking about their love for motorcycling, Mohan said, “Riding is a passion combined with a motive to explore, serve, and at the same time raise awareness among our youth on a variety of issues. Motorcycling can be a great hobby for youngsters as well as ride for a cause.” Mohan completed reached the 100,000 kms milestone in 2019 and crossed the 150,000 kms mark recently.

Sharing a similar view, Babu, who completed 100,000 kms last week, added, “We have ridden together for various charity-led initiatives. We do not believe in chasing records. We cross milestones naturally as and when we embark on rides that benefit the community.”IMG 20210815 WA0009

Itn the last few years, biking has become an integral part of society, as more and more passionate riders are exploring the corners of the country on two wheelers apart from taking part in various social causes. Inspired by Mohan and Babu, many other riders have now embarked on similar road journeys.
