BSY : Special Grant of Rs 5,495 Crore for Karnataka….!

CHIEF MINISTER CALLS ON UNION FINANCE MINISTER REQUESTS UNION GOVERNMENT TO ACCEPT RECOMMENDATIONS OF 14TH FINANCE COMMISSION FOR A SPECIAL GRANT OF Rs 5495 CRORE FOR KARNATKA

New Delhi, September 17 (Karnataka Information):

The Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr B S Yediyurappa called on the Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Ms Nirmala Seetharaman here this evening and requested the Union Government to accept the recommendation of the 14th Finance Commission for a Special Grant of Rs 5,495 Crore for Karnataka on account of reduced devolution.

In a Memorandum submitted to Ms Nirmala Seetharaman the Chief Minister said against recommendation of Rs 2100.25 Crore Performance Grant to Urban Local Bodies and Rural Local Bodies an amount of only Rs 869.40 Crore has been received. He also requested to release balance amount of Rs 1230.85 Crore.

While extending his gratitude for the timely release of funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNGREGA) Scheme, Mr Yediyurappa sought early release of outstanding material dues of nearly Rs 665.09 Crore and unskilled wage dues of Rs 54.65 Crore.

The Chief Minister appealed the Union Government to notify an additional 50 days under Section 3(4) of the MNGREGA as Karnataka has faced an unprecedented pandemic.
